Systematic Review of Flood and Drought Literature Based on Science Mapping and Content Analysis

The severity and frequency of flood drought events have increased in recent decades. These climate change-induced anthropogenic stressors on water resources represent the leading water-related hazards to communities. Further, increasing exposure population infrastructure such has heightened risks. Assessing impact scope these different subfields towards comprehensively evaluating risks requires an unbiased systematic approach. This paper combines content analysis science mapping investigate existing multidisciplinary body knowledge analyzing together. Searching literature using selected search terms yielded a sample 119 publications. Initially, various contents, as authors’ keywords, applied methods indices, study scale, were extracted from articles. contents then incorporated into technique form communicative networks. Analyzing publications revealed 13 major research themes, with sustained focus hydrological issues. However, more diverse range themes was recently revealed, including economy, sociology, insurance, policymaking. Producing computational visual networks explained informative insights that can help further develop both new frameworks support management, design policymaking sectors responding events.
